Thorough Taurans

Taurus

Taurus

After a week off wordpress, I return with more zodiac portrayal of the Taurans. Read and learn about your friends.

Taurus Personality

Of all the twelve sun-signs, Taurus is the one most in need of order, security and self-assurance. Taurus are not friendly to indecision and chaos at all. They work hard at bringing security – social and economical, in their and their loved ones’ lives. They will find it very hard to risk it for something in the air, no matter how great and majestic it might be. These are really patient people that will never throw in the towel and keep fighting for what they value and what they believe in. They can settle for very few accomplishments, or long lean periods, but they need to know that certain changes are inevitable, and certain things will come to you only when they have to, no matter how hard and long you try. Quite a contrast from the patient plodder, huh?
This is why onlookers would feel that Taurus are too slow or too dull – the truth is they are in a world of their own, where everything has its own pace, and nothing needs to be hurried. Emotional security is just as important for them as economic. They make really stable relationships, and hold on to them with all their moral strength. But as we have said, they are afraid of change, and afraid of letting things go. Thus they might get really possessive at times, to the inconvenience of the companion.
However, Taurus are known to be the most attractive looking of all the twelve signs. And they happen to be very passionate, even though some might find them to be a little on the slow side. They can’t help it – they don’t like rude shocks, and always like to know the result of something before leaping into it. So in short, they are beautiful, sensual people who have great taste for the grander and more subtle things in life.

Taurus Qualities and Characteristics

Taurus is the sign of manhood, strength, stamina, perseverance and potency. You are quite calm and serene, but when bothered, you will turn wicked and dangerous. You also like your life to be stable and not perturbed with sudden changes.
You have an air of reliability and sensibility about that makes you quite valuable. You have an inherent urge to create and build stuff that is why you are impeccable when it comes to managing money, men and tasks. You are quite attracted by the luxuries that come with money and are ready to work for them. You also have a hospitable, and an epicurean side to your personality and have a tremendous urge for physical pleasure.
You are consistent with whatever they do or say, as you don’t have a tendency to change opinion; your temper is also quite distinctive – short burst with no prior caution. Even Taureans are quite moody, and like to keep themselves immersed in their work. You are the ones who get restless and mischievous when idle. You do care a lot about your family and friends. There is a double world within you, a normal world and another spiritual and enigmatic to the extreme.
Qualities that make you lucky are realistic, reliable, openhanded, and arty. Qualities that hinder your success are possessiveness, stubbornness, lethargy, and self-indulgence.

Taurus Friendship Compatibility

In friendship, Taurus are consistent and reliable. You will do your best for a friend in need, and be there for him through thick and thin. You are also honest, which means that if you are swamped at the moment and can’t help someone, you will tell him so and still make earnest suggestions that could help him. You are not one to go for new friends; you’d prefer an old and time-tested friend on any day. And that’s simply because you yourself are like that. So you are a little slow at making friends, and never rush it. But this can also be viewed as reluctance.
However, the real problem with such an approach is that when you go to a new place, and come in contact with new people, it will be long before you can form a rapport and start feeling comfortable. It’s not that you don’t like new people – it’s just that you can’t just throw your trust without making sure.
So you will definitely observe that you are slower than people you come into contact with. But you won’t really accept this fully until you have enough bitter experiences in life to make you feel that accepting it will only help you adjust better with life as it comes to you. For some people, it might not be so important to share common interests with your friends, but for you, this is not acceptable at all. You have certain subjects and activities that fascinated since you were a kid, and you need to have at least one of those interests in common with your friends. This is probably what makes you so choosy.
Your greatest strength in friendships is your readiness to help those in need. On a certain occasion, you might give a friend a shoulder to cry on, and on some other, you might do daily outdoor chores for a friend who is in great stress.

Taurus Career and Money

Taurus are very hardworking people who don’t mind giving some project endless hours without the smallest glimpse of returns or results. They are not the resilient sturdy kind who likes to work under stress with a huge load and deadlines to be met; and neither do they like working in a disturbing and noisy atmosphere. They need to choose a career wherein they are not forced to give immediate results and take sudden action, they like taking life the easy yet serious way.
Another issue with them is their tendency to put on weight. No matter how hard they work or how little they eat, they just don’t seem to be able to burn those extra calories! And this takes a toll on their work – after the afternoon lunch, they are hardly in a position to keep the drowsiness away and concentrate on their work. Not a big problem if they are able to make up for it in the morning.
Another very important issue for the Taurus while choosing a career is the security. They cannot get into a job which makes demands at their ingenuity and imagination every single moment. If they are told to constantly improve the techniques of the company, and keep finding new ways of cutting the costs, they will just not like it. They cannot life with the fact that demands of this kind on their physical and mental reserves will be kept being made for all their lives.
They’d be much happier working in the outlines drawn by others, giving their know-how and wisdom wherever necessary. So they are not made for leading a company, but for playing a supporting role – fair enough; how many do we have these days even to do that!
That being said, Taurus can make great progress in fields which require long hours of patient study. For example, drawing the detailed architectural plans of a new building based on ideas and specifications already given by others might sound a very unimaginative and tedious job. But not everyone can do it – it needs long hours of terrible concentration.

Taurus in Love and Romance

In love, when it comes to the Taurus, most people picture the charging bull. The reality is in stark contrast from that. When a Taurus feels drawn to another person, he/she will sit down, relax and try to look at the situation as objectively as possible. It’s not that they are not passionate – their passion is just overridden by their patience at this point. And once they have assured themselves that the juice is worth the squeeze, they will go right into it and try to win the person over with careful planning and charm.
And if you are a Taurean, this is where you can go wrong – you are just not ready to accept the fact that someone might really like you for what you really are! Why the planning and scheming? Why can’t you be your natural self? You will surely see that winning over someone is not always about overwhelming the person. Ultimately, the relationship will work only if the other person is ready to accept you even with all the shortcomings you have.
Sexually, Taurus are known to take time to be aroused, but once they are, there is nothing in the world that can pull them back. This is quite true, and in this department, you would be quite right in summoning that charging bull’s picture to mind. The time you take is just for a reality check – you can’t charge into such matters without being sure that you will not be hurt by being rejected.
The Taurus’ most negative characteristic is possessiveness. The more the Taurus is fond of his/her companion, the more possessive he/she is. Not many companions will be comfortable with such an attitude. And on occasions, it might happen that the partner parts ways for this reason, and the Taurus doesn’t even understand why this is happening to him/her. So your ability to charm those you like makes you a marvelous catch but just don’t try to own your companion, and everything will go fine.

Taurus in Marriage

Being a Taurus, you will work hard to make your marriage a comfortable and fruitful one. For this, you will work hard and get to a respectable position in the operational ladder of your field even before you get married. So by the time you have tied the knot, you have a pretty enviable bank balance and a good position. You have settled in your career and do not wish to do anything bold and risky, at least for the next several years. You have a home of your own in which you move with your newly wedded wife. All this is being done just to remove any sort of anxiety from your married life, and provide your wife with a stable financial atmosphere and your kids with supportive and tension-free surroundings where to grow up.
Here again, try to keep your possessive streak under control; it may feed on any kind of reason. Initially, for example, if you are a male, you might not like the fact the wife interacts with some one more than she should (according to you). Later on, when you have kids, you might not like the fact that she is not able to give you as much time as she used to. You start thinking that she doesn’t love you like she used to. That is total rubbish! Your only issue is that you have started to take the partner as a possession of yours, and don’t like the changes that happen in life thereafter. This can be checked if you force to tell yourself that the other person is not your possession; he/she is not to be owned, but just to be loved.
Now as far as your parenthood is concerned, you are not exactly the disciplinarian kind. You, at times, tend to spoil your child more than the usual – by buying new expensive toys for them, by letting them off the hook when they spoil their grades and so on. After a certain age, you might start feeling that they are out of your hand. So make amends while they are young. The weird part here is that when the kids are young, you are lenient and when they grow up, you start feeling that they do not behave properly and need to be disciplined. The truth is that you did what you had to do in their early years. And now, the generation gap is so much that you can’t go along with their ways. Just try your best and learn from them – that is all I can say!

All These Woods

I was ‘off air’ last week ‘cos I was having some personal issues and, learning from the best, I’m never going to discuss them here, so that gist is ‘off-limits’. Well, all’s well now and I’m back to my usual self. Today, I bring this from a discussion I had with a couple of friends early this week.

Tiger Woods is a great sportsman. Y’know, when your name becomes synonymous with a particular sport, then you must truly be a legend. Only a few sports can have those kinda personalities and golf is definitely one of ’em. But today’s post isn’t about this type of ‘Wood’, no. Its about the movie-making ‘Woods’.

Hollywood is well respected all over the world as a high quality movie-making centre, and for good reason too. It’s almost like there’s nothing these guys can imagine that can’t be made in a movie. In fact, the American movie industry is a classic case of, “You’re limited only by your imagination.” Many very great masterpieces have been brought to us, from crazy plots, beautiful storylines to, literally, out-of-this-world graphics. As much as there’ll never be a completely perfect industry, there’ve also been some lemons in even some of their high budget productions but Hollywood still remains a standard.

Coming home, Nollywood has not been able to keep up with the times. While the music section of the Nigerian entertainment industry has actually stepped up phenomenally such that we can watch a Jay-Z video just after a D’Banj video and not see much difference in quality. It’s even so good that Nigerian songs are the rave of parties and clubs here in Naija and even out there. Gone are the days when the most requested songs are from 50 Cent, Sean Paul, J.Lo, Mary J. and the likes. These days, no 2face, D’Banj, P. Square, Wizkid and a host of others, no party!

The movie industry has failed to create such an impact. While the music industry grew in leaps & bounds, the movies part was growing in bits & pieces. This results from various issues which I won’t care to discuss but I’m just going to say here that whatever the condition, we could do much better. Producing movies no be by force! Why must they consistently feed us trash in the name of movies?! It’s really pathetic what we get these days. It’s true our society and environment is not the same as obtains in Hollywood but if you’ve watched movies from there well enough, you’d know that they’re still not limited to their societal setup. Imagination & Creativity are two keywords here. Before we start talking about them, however, if we feel we’re still constrained by our cultural background, then let’s at least produce some quality movies with intelligent storylines & plots. I was reading a blog the other day and the blogger was talking about having a game of ‘Predict-the-next-Scene’ while watching a Nollywood movie and, needless to say, she won all she tried. It’s no longer news that Nigerian movies are so predictable, but even if stories have to be revamped and reused, we should be able to add a little twist. The life of a Nigerian is not so monotonous as not to be able to weave a good story around in hundreds of ways! Haba!

For me, the worst in scripting and overall production is ‘Yollywood’ (Yoruba movies). These movies are so ‘uncreative’ from the plot to the title. The funny thing about them is that you just have to listen to the ‘soundtrack’ (so-called) and you can tell the name of the movie without watching from the start! It’s that bad! Now imagine a Yollywood action movie! I mean, they write stories that they know so much about and they don’t even do that well, how much more something they have to fashion after their Hollywood counterparts.

After watching ‘Wanted’ (the one with Angelina Jolie) and seeing crazy video effects, a Yollywood producer decided to show off his skills with an action movie that replicates the long-distance killer shot. As much as the video editing and special effects in the movie could be said to be better than most, they made a joke of it all by making really silly mistakes. Firstly, the movie is not a regular Yollywood story as the ‘killer shot’ indicates but it isn’t creative either (after watching ‘Wanted’). Now, I wouldn’t complain about copying someone else’s scenes only if you can do better, or at least match the quality. This movie did neither and only brought criticism to other video effects in the movie. Serious Nonsense!!

Most Nollywood movies are so hurriedly made that it’s so obvious everything was managed. Watching African Magic these days is becoming a torture. I was contemplating removing the 1, 4 & 8 buttons on my remote when I realised I might miss direct access to more useful stations like 124, 401, 110, 108, and the rest of ’em. Seriously, we can do much better if we tried harder.

An argument of a friend is that we don’t have what Hollywood has when it comes to making movies (especially action and Sci-Fi) but I still say if we can’t produce the kinda films they do over there because we don’t have the equipment, then let’s focus on our own stories and perfect them. In my opinion, some of the best movies we’ve had (like most Mainframe productions) are stories fashioned after our local environment. Creativity does wonders to arts. If all the guys involved in movie production could take their time to perfect their art, we would be exporting movies now.

I suggest if we ever want to produce those action movies like they do out there, then we need to find out how they accomplish it, equipment and all, and get those things here to produce such. Without that, we would only be producing the ‘Scary Movie’ version of all their movies and our movie industry will remain what it has been for a long time…a very bad joke!

It’s all I have to say concerning all these woods and I hope somebody that matters gets to read and, hopefully, act.

Thanks for reading through. Opinions are welcome.

Fiery Aries

Aries

Aries

This post is coming a lil later than promised but here it is. This is all you need to know about Ariens. Enjoy!

Aries Personality

Aries is representative of verve and energy and while many may associate a ‘me first’ attitude with Ariens, the truth is quite different from this. The ‘me first’ refers primarily to their competitiveness and their desire to be at the top of the world. Of course, the selfish aspect of their personality is true to some extent, but it can be controlled. They are known to be highly simple and straight-forward in their dealings. This is the secret behind the amazing clarity that they seem to possess regarding everyday life.
In their childhood, Ariens are characteristically hungry for success. They generally wanna be good in sports, studies and almost everything they get involved in, though there might be the odd case of an Ariean almost deliberately messing up their grades, just cause they don’t care. This attitude just gets stronger with age. In their profession, they will do all they can to get to the top. And to many, this might mean that the personal life suffers, but not to Ariens. Ariens are really attached to their family. They also make excellent partners, in a sexual as well as emotional sense. They are intent on enjoying their sex life to the fullest, which is great for their partners. This comes from the fact that they are very passionate and fervent, but they also have certain selfish tendencies which can make things sour.
Ariens frequently develop headaches because of the stresses they experience in life. Also, in their hustle and bustle, they might get careless and cause physical harm to themselves in the form of cuts and bruises. It would be advisable for Ariens to be careful while handling fire and metal objects.
Overall, Ariens are energetic, passionate beings with a knack of achieving great laurels in their field of work. They also have a pioneering side which they can seldom suppress.

Aries Qualities and Characteristics

You are aggressive, the kind of person who takes problems by the headlocks. You are as fearless as the Gods and enthusiastic and fervent to the extreme. Your sex drive is very strong and you are quite aptly, extrovert. But the drawback is in terms of your egotism. Even though you are the leader in your peer group, you lack the wisdom required in a leader.
You might also show attributes of blunt and roguish behavior and lack of pragmatism while dealing with people. However, having strong emotions and being courageous and forceful, you forge your way ahead in precarious situations. So when a new endeavor is to be undertaken, you will be the crucial person. Your approach with opposite sex is altogether aggressive and straight-on, like your approach towards life itself. You have an exceptional exuberance and stamina, and this probably originates from your quality of being your own master, but this also leads to the lack of style and grace.
You don’t talk a lot or try to justify, you just assert your supremacy and work. Now you can decide for yourself how good this can be for your leadership. You are not very social, but you are quite helpful and even gullible. May be that is why people try to take undue advantage of you and even become successful.
Qualities that make you lucky are daring, full of life, impulsive, and plain philosophy. Qualities that hinder your success are intolerance, self-seeking, envy, and inflexibility.

Aries Friendship Compatibility

Nurturing healthy and productive friendships requires not only going out and meeting new people, but more importantly, the ability to influence the other person and encourage common interests – and this comes naturally to you Ariens. You will take them to your favourite movies and sports events, show them your favourite TV shows, books and magazines, and actually stir up their interest in them even if they hardly any to start with. Energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and they are exactly what you pass on to your mates.
But there is this small problem in such matters, Aries naturally happen to be selfish (this is not always such a negative thing, let me remind you). So, when the other guy or girl makes a plan, Aries might always find something more interesting or more fun to go to. So you will definitely be tempted to cancel the previous commitment. As is the norm in such cases, you will come up with the prettiest excuses (I am sure of that) and given your forceful and vigorous nature, the other person will definitely accept it. But your friend will be hurt nonetheless, and when the same thing happens again and again, he/she will start seeing through the charm and shine.
All this is being said, not to point out your blemishes, but to encourage you to introduce all the warmth and charm in your friendships, but in the right way. Sometimes, being a good friend means being patient, irrespective of how wrong you might think your friend is. And the truth is that some day your friend will be grateful to you for that. Some might need a helping hand, while some might just need a shoulder to cry on. Whatever the case, they will not ask for something you can’t give them. When you will be in the dumps and need them, they will always be there for you. So this is a way of returning their favor before they actually do you one. After all, is this not what friendship is all about?

Aries Career and Money

The creative energy and talent of an Arien needs sufficient expression in his/her professional life as well. So an Arien needs a job that is demanding and challenging. The challenge might be of a physical kind, but most often an Arien is not content without a job with intellectual hurdles to be overcome and competition to be out-maneuvered. Ariens enjoy it especially if they get to go into uncharted territories, to explore and try out new possibilities for themselves and to pioneer some new technique or philosophy of doing things. One important thing to note about them is that they definitely go after money, but money is not everything for them. They will not be happy with a good salary, they need good, challenging work.
As might be expected of people with so much verve and energy, they will hardly consent to work in a quiet and dull atmosphere. They would want to be in some place bustling and happening, even if it produces a lot of noise and interruption. These guys are perfectly suited for fieldwork. They are for the front-end jobs – if they are in a law firm they should be fight legal battles in the court of law, if they work for a manufacturing or retailing unit, they must be showing customers around and selling them stuff. Ariens are meant for action, of whatever kind it might be. They will not sit down and work on routines and details. If you make them do that, they will cut corners and turn out to be horrible failures.
As much as Ariens like to be on the field, they also like to be in the midst of competition. The fiercer the competition, the harder they work and produce results. This is the basic reason why Ariens have a reputation for rising up to the occasion – they are comfortable only when they are fighting for every breath; normal slow life is not for them.

Aries in Love and Romance

Ariens fall into love record-breaking fast – they will be in love even before they know it. And it’s not even like a serious love-like infatuation that you’d expect to pass, it is the real passionate I’m-all-for-you kinda love. To some, it might look like they are rushing into it, but in an Arien’s mind, that is the normal speed. But all the same, how ever so much ecstatic they might feel, relative to the world they seem to be pushy. And that means they are pushy – and we all know that pushy messes things up in matters of love.
Being pushy carries on to another dimension of the relationship as well, namely the sexual. The Arien has so much passion and libido that he/she never seems to get out of the making-love-all-night-long stage. Now the thing with passion is that passion and consideration hardly go along with one another. So the partner might suffer and flinch and be unwilling to take the physical strain for so long for so many times, but the Arien just wants more and more. So the best way to curb such tendencies is to be aware of them, and talking one’s way through whenever one has a doubt whether the partner is ready to go to the same length that he/she is.
Another characteristic of their sexual personality is that the thing comes naturally to them. They have a beautiful love-instinct and know exactly how to express it. Because of their uncomplicated personalities, they always have things figured out and hardly ever have guilt-related issues after the act. The issue, however, is that they have a more than average sex-drive. Now how’s that an issue? It is an issue if the partner does not share the same amount of enthusiasm. Herein is the need to assess one’s partner and shape one’s approach accordingly to be amusing and engrossing enough for the partner. Otherwise, we come back to the problem of overexerting one’s partner.
Ariens have an unpredictable, sweet side to their persona. They have a habit of giving their loved ones small presents, for particularly no reason at all. The partner enjoys it very much and things take off in a totally new direction for that night.

Aries in Marriage

Ariens make good spouses – this is credited mainly to the passionate and enthusiastic side of their personality. They are interested domestic affairs just as much as in official ones, in an almost childlike way. You can witness this in the way they decorate their houses, buy presents for their family members and provide for them. As parents, they are neither so unattached as to pass on cleaning diapers over to the spouse, nor so over-anxious as to panic when their kid spoils his school exams. If their children do not perform in school up to their expectations, they will take things into their own hands and help them through. But Ariens are not known for their patience! They might end up saying or doing something they might regret later.
There is the general notion that Ariens are give and take in marriage. This is a horrible notion to have, but nonetheless, not totally incorrect. Here, there’s one thing all married couples need to understand. In married life, there obviously are taking periods of each partner of the marriage – periods when the other understands his/her spouse’s need gives. But when the giving period comes, the Arien is often found wanting. At this point, he/she should reassess the situation, and question himself/herself if he/she is giving all that he/she has got. Ariens have this vast reserve of fervent energy, but it’s really important for them to put it in the right place.
Again, an important problem with Ariens is their selfishness. They do things that hurt their partner, and they don’t realize it. This thoughtlessness is as natural as the selfishness, and the end outcome is that the partner expresses his/her anguish in an outburst and the Arien is totally taken by surprise. The Arien’s simple nature and way of looking at life hinders his/her ability to understand the complicated results of his/her actions. So if you are an Arien and married, you have a lot to give as well as a lot to look out for.

Splicing Pisces Parts

Pisces

Pisces

Continuing the zodiac series, today we have the Pisceans under the microscope. As I said previously, this series is not originally written by me. I found the articles quite interesting and did a compilation. Enjoy!

Pisces Personality

Pisceans are characterised by their emotional depth. They have such a vast reservoir of positive creative energy that they don’t even come close to realizing their true potential. They are too modest to admit their talent, and often underestimate themselves. No one has the ability to express true human emotions such as happiness, love, anger and forgiveness in his art as much as the Piscean. So he/she no doubt has talent, but there is a tremendous need for encouragement. Pisceans give their friends unconditional support when needed. They believe in the notion that a friend in need is a friend indeed. But this works both ways. They also need to be understood and helped when in need.
Pisceans are also susceptible to developing habits and then acting as if they will show themselves out. Eventually, it becomes so late that things go out of control, and the habits take a heavy toll on their personal and professional lives. Again, it is almost impossible for the Piscean to get out of such a quicksand and restore normalcy in life without the support and affection of close and loved ones. Friends and family might find this a little difficult than they might think because Pisceans tend to be a little deceptive, thinking that it is for everyone’s good. So the picture I paint is not a very rosy one – it would seem that it’s hard for the Piscean to even live normally without help. But it’s not like that. Pisceans have so much stuffed up inside them that it is hard for them to stay balanced. That’s the only reason why they need help.
In love, Pisceans fall very easily and quickly, but tend to make mistakes. And sometimes, the result is the worst. Thus, they can be summed up in one word – passionate – in life, in work, in love and everything else. Their kind and gentle side sprouts from this very passion.

Pisces Qualities and Characteristics

Pisceans have a tendency to get pulled in two opposite directions. This inhibits their decision taking capability. They are quite open-minded towards their work and personal life, and demonstrate an immaculate insight and vision in material, technical and spiritual aspects.
You have a particular artistic sophistication, which means that you have creativity with a polished edge. Your special characteristic is your love for beautiful things in life, and also a particular day-dreaming and inconsistent trait. You are too soft hearted and willingly help anyone in distress; this might also lead to problems to you because of your inability to say ‘no’. Even with the introspective and intuitive edge, you are moody and restless at times.
Some depressions and dissatisfactions might lead you to pity yourself and escape from the distresses in life through drug addiction or drinking. You have a great inner strength, you only need to exhume it. You share your resources with others, even money, and think that others should do the same. The boundaries of possession are sometimes invisible or altogether meaningless to Pisceans, thus turning some into forgers and embezzlers.
Qualities that make you lucky are caring, progressive, benevolent, and imaginative. Qualities that hinder your success are undecided, casual, not practical, and easygoing.

Pisces Friendship Compatibility

If you are a piscean, you will be a friend cherished and loved by all your friends. Not only are you ready to put a great deal of energy and time into the friendship, but you are also ready to listen and give a shoulder to cry on to your friends. You are always willing to make sacrifices for the sake of your friends. You make their problems your problems. So the good friends will appreciate all you do, and reciprocate in full measure, but there will always be the other ones looking out and trying to take advantage. And unfortunately, you are one of the gullible kind – you find it really hard to make out the honest kind of friends from the opportunists.
Now there is this creative and artistic side of yours we talked about. This means that you like being encouraged by your friends. This works the other way around too – you find it easier to make friends with those who can take interest and sympathise with your interests, emotions and impulses. All and all, you naturally are inclined to get closer to someone who is one the same ground as you. In the whole broader picture, you are helping yourself gain in confidence and achieve whatever it is you want in life. There is the negative side to this too – you need friends who have interests similar to yours. So they might sometimes tend to feign interest in things that they couldn’t care less about – this might lead to awkward or heartbreaking moments.
Pisces, however need to make a conscious effort to get their personal life straight. You tend to be late on appointments, and then appear flustered and embarrased when you arrive. You are of course an excellent friend, one to be treasured, but your mistakes may get a little too irritating for your friends for them to be able to forgive you. A little discipline here would not go amiss. You are a great friend, but you also need to make it easy for your friends to go along with you.

Pisces Career and Money

Pisceans have a very characteristic set of needs and motivating factors, which seems quite different from those of other sun-signs. So, they need to take special care in choosing their field of work so that they can work towards the fulfillment of these needs, and making the most out of their professional lives. Pisceans have a strong sense of vocation, then need to put their heart and soul into their work. And when they work with this sort of dedication, they can be terribly let down by any sort of obstruction. They can work with very little pay, as long as they are allowed to derive the most from their job.
Another very important aspect of the Piscean way of life is believing in something, and making sacrifices for it. I have said that the Piscean can give up his/her career in order to look after the children, but now I say that the Piscean is also capable of sacrificing his/her hopes of getting married and raising a family for an important social cause, or a career in some form of art that he/she might be dedicated to. All the Piscean kindness and warmth is seen in their work.
This of course is a very noble and ideal way of life, but some Pisceans sometimes get caught up in the rat-race of life. They start doing what everyone else does, running after money and power and pelf like everyone else. But as and when they do it, they will surely realize that this way of life is not for their benefit. The hustle and bustle, and the noisy, tense atmosphere of a typical workplace is not the ideal hunting ground for them. They need to be left on their own, with no demands or deadlines to be met, and they will come up with the best, not with an aim of impressing anyone or accumulating anything, but just for the common good. So works the Piscean mind, and this ought to be understood most of all by the bosses, who tend to force things on everyone.
A special note on the great creative potential of the Piscean – most often it is wasted, unless backed by a very strong impulse. But even when there is the impulse, the talent needs to be nurtured and encouraged, lest it be lost in due course.

Pisces in Love and Romance

In this matter, Pisces are ruled by instinct and emotion. Pisces are not one to sit in a judge’s chair and think about the partner-to-be objectively – you are too romantic for that. What you do is rush straight into it, and think later. Ill advised, but when it comes to love, there is no bound to your emotions, you just cannot control yourself. This impulsive nature is greatly loved by all those you couple with, at least as long as the two of you are together. And this is how it works – when you are young, you have all the impulse and verve in the whole world and ‘leap before you look’ would seem to be the motto of your love life; but as life goes on, with all the cuts and bruises you have suffered in the name of love, you will learn to be cautious.
This issue eclipses all others in relationship matters for you. And the answer to this problem is simple – try to think practically. I know it’s hard for you, so whenever you feel a strong impulse, just count to ten – relax! When the situation tends to get a little too hot to handle and it feels like all that talk about self restrain is just not working for you, try to let go of it – take a time out. This is not the same as running away from your demons. Time has a way of clearing the mist and removing the cobwebs. When you are not in the proximity of your ‘lover’, you will be free from blinding emotions, and be able to think clearly about your coherence with him/her, and if it has a future.
Now, if you end up with the wrong person, it will be difficult for you to realize that in time and make amends. But why should you end up with the wrong guy/gal? An important factor here is your too-good nature. You are willing to go to any level, and make any sacrifice in order to make the relationship work. This attitude might attract many a people who are not really worthy of .. you! So there are quite a lot many things you need to learn, I’m afraid, the hard way. Good luck!

Pisces in Marriage

When it comes to marriage, I am assuming that the you, the Piscean, have found the right one for you after a certain number of trials and errors. Congratulations! Now you need to learn the ABC’s of married life. And the A is – Always maintain your identity in spite of the marriage. If it’s important for one to maintain his/her identity in a relationship, it’s even more so when it comes to marriage. There are those who say that after the marriage, there is no place for ‘I’ – the two I’s turn into a ‘WE’. But they are not you; you are you and you know that it is very easy for you to mould into your partner’s personality and become his/her mouthpiece. You can forget your own likes and dislikes to please your partner; and as much as you may seem to be doing all this out of your own free will, it is not good for your mental well-being. Suppressing your ambitions and pleasures is not good after a certain level.
On a lighter note, you are very easy to live with, even with your sometimes unorganizedand untidy way of life. Your partner may accuse you of being too casual about things that ought to be taken seriously, and not be totally wrong. But that’s you – you are not deliberately negligent, you just think there are more important things to do.
When it comes to parenthood, you are not negligent of your duties at all – you make sure you give your kids every opportunity to learn and perform. But you have a way of spoiling your kids – not by giving them to much material stuff and spending too much on them, but by giving them too much love. Nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that in your eyes, they can do no wrong. So when they actually do something wrong, like spoiling their grades, may be, then it comes as a rude shock to you. So with time, you need to learn how to teach your child a little self-discipline and the virtues of hardwork and honesty.

Independence Day!

I love that movie! As old as the movie is, I still watch it every time I can. I can’t really say exactly what it is but the movie just never gets boring to me, despite the fact that it’s a pretty straight-forward movie, not much twists and turns. I generally like Sci-Fi’s (good ones) and I like Will Smith as an actor, with ‘I, Robot’ another combination of both I really like.

One of my fave scenes in the movie was when the U.S. President gave the Independence Day speech. I’m sure a few days before the invasion, he must’ve been preparing a different one. But in the face of a new terror, he was able to speak to the world and ask for a joint action against the aliens in order to prevent the end of the human race.

You know, as we’ve just had our Independence Day, I try to picture us as the world power and Goodluck giving an Independence Day speech through such alien invasion. I imagine him telling the world that,”…we will do all we can to find the these aliens, then we will see what we can do. By the way, aliens do visit other planets. This might be our turn to have them…”
*Patience now pops in*
“I’d rather be an alien than become like one of these things!”

Then we’d have the aliens laughing so hard that they forget to attack and one of them mistakenly presses the self-destruct button on their ship and…BOOM!!! Job done without any loss of lives, except the aliens’ of course!

Really, thinking about it, do we have anything to celebrate on our Independence Day after 51 years? Of course we do! We have life, we still have our country ‘intact’, we are still ‘managing’. But do we REALLY have something to celebrate. I basically think that every Independence Day should mark something special. We should be talking in milestones.

Some argue that at 51, we’re still quite young (comparing us to the U.S.), and therefore, are allowed the mistakes. I still say that if the U.S. had been the country turning 51 at this age and time, they’d have done much better! Our problems are self-inflicted and, like most private companies running in Naija today, are caused by bad management (leadership, in this case.) Not like the led have done much to really change things. We have allowed ourselves to be run over by the actions of the ruling few and we accept things the way they are until our own time comes, which most likely is when we have someone we know in power, then the cycle goes on. The few among us who are really doing something have not been allowed much impact.

This post is not to lament our predicament, no! On the other hand, it is actually meant to wake us up. We can complain from now till tomorrow but if we’re able to do our own little part, we could achieve so much. The state of the nation might not allow too much to be done at a time, but there’s always something you can do, or at least gather people to do. Now is not the time for so much talk. Now we take action!

I’ve been inspired by Fela Durotoye’s ‘Mushin Makeover’. The concept is simple, you just need to gather a few willing people to make some major things happen. I decided I was going to do my bit to deal with the complacency in the educational sector, so I planned a series of seminars to emphasize on self discovery and importance of education in the real world. I kinda believe high school education is the basic, most important level of education anybody needs to survive anywhere. If these students can have a clear mental picture of what they want to do in the near future, it would be easier for them to hit whatever target they set with very good planning. I put forward the idea to a couple of friends and they supported it. By the time we did our first series, the facilitators included people of note who actually accepted to speak for free. The second series will start soon along with a couple other projects and with time, I know we’ll make a major impact.

The point is, if you don’t move, things won’t move! We can sit down and discuss with our friends how bad the leadership is, but if we ever hope to change the situation, we can start something within that small circle of friends we have. You think the employment situation is getting worse by the day? Get a few friends together, put ideas down and start something! There’s a lot we can do to help this country, and indeed ourselves! We can TRULY have a reason to celebrate the next birthday of the nation.

I write this to let you know that the power of the coming together of our individual brilliance and creativity will impress upon the next generation, causing a paradigm shift in the core values we seem to lack now. Our plan of action now is to make sure the mindset of the next generation is gradually changed from the present negativity to a more optimistic outlook of the future. They need to know they can actually become whatever they want to be without too much dependence on the type of connections they’ve got.

I hope as we read this, we can relate to it and start making something happen with whatever resources we have. We need to move the mountains of corruption, unemployment, injustice, political debauchery, underdevelopment and the likes, and we can start a movement within our very own capacities. The Nigeria of our dreams is within our reach. Let’s DO SOMETHING!!!

I hope I’m able to touch a sensitive spot in you.

Thank you!

Funnies! 2

End of Discortion Noni!!!

End of Discortion Noni!!!

Continuing with my Funnies! this week, I present these:

Why Microsoft shouldn’t make cars

At a recent computer expo, Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: “If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon.”
In response to Bill’s comments/General Motors issued a press release stating the following: “If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would be driving cars with the following characteristics:
1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally, your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would accept this, restart, and drive on.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart;
in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you bought ‘Car95’ or ‘CarNT.’ Then you would have to buy
more seats.
6. Macintosh would make a car that’s powered by the sun, more reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five percent of the roads.
7. The oil, water, temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single ‘general car fault’ warning light.
8. New seats would force everyone to have the same butt size.
9. The airbag system would say ‘Are you sure?’ before going off.
10. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally road maps, even though they neither need them nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the car’s performance to diminish by 50 per cent or more.
12. Every time GM introduced a new model, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
13. You’d press the ‘Start’ button to shut off the engine.

Go on, tell them

This story occurred on Melbourne radio recently.
One of the FM stations has a competition where they ring someone up, ask them three personal questions, ring their
spouse or partner, ask them the same three questions, if the
answers are the same, the couple win a holiday to Bali.
Last week the competition went like this:
Presenter: Gidday its FOX-FM, do you want to play the game?
Brian: Yeah, sure.
Presenter: O.K., Question 1 – When was the last time you had sex?
Brian: Ohhh, maaaate. Ha Ha, well, about 8 o’clock this morning.
Presenter: And how long did it go for Brian?
Brian: Orrrrr …. about 10 minutes.
Presenter: 10 minutes? Good one. And where did you do it mate?
Brian: Ohhhh maaaaate, I can’t say that.
Presenter: There’s a holiday to Bali at stake here Brian!
Brian: O.K. … O.K. … On the kitchen table.
Presenter: (and others in the room – much laughter). Good one
Brian, now is it O.K. for us to call your wife ?
Brian: Yeah, alright.
Presenter: Hi Sharelle, how are you ?
Sharelle: Hi. Good thanks.
Presenter: (Explains competition again) We’ve got Brian on the other line, say hello.
Sharelle: Hi Brian.
Brian: Hi Sharelle.
Presenter: Now Sharelle, we’re going to ask you the same three questions we asked Brian and if you give the same answers, you win a trip for two to Bali.
Brian: Just tell the truth Honey.
Sharelle: O.K.
Presenter: Sharelle, when was the last time you had sex?
Sharelle: Oohhhh, noooooo. I can’t say that on radio.
Brian: Sharelle, it doesn’t matter. I’ve already told them.
Sharelle: O.K. … About 8:00 this morning before Brian went to work.
Presenter: Good, nice start! Next question.
How long did it go for Sharelle?
Sharelle: (giggling) About 12, maybe 15 minutes.
Co-Presenter: That’s close enough … Brian was just being a gentleman.
Presenter: O.K. Sharelle, final question.
Where did you do it?
Sharelle: Oh no I can’t say that. My mum could be listening. No way, no.
Presenter: There’s a trip to Bali on the line here.
Brian: Sharelle, I’ve already told them so it doesn’t matter anyway just tell em.
Sharelle: Ohhhh …. alright …. Up the arse!
Instant Radio Silence. Advert.
Presenter: Sorry if anyone was offended before, we’re going live here, and sometimes these things happen. We’ve given Brian and Sharelle the holiday. Now we’ll take a music break.

Three nuns

Three Italian nuns die and go to heaven, where they are met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter.
He says “Ladies, you all led such wonderful lives, that I’m granting you six months to go back to earth and be anyone you want to be.”
The first nun says, “I want to be Sophia Loren;” and *poof* she’s gone.
The second says, “I want to be Madonna;” and *poof* she’s gone.
The third says, “I want to be Sara Pipalini.”
St. Peter looks perplexed. “Who?” he says.
“Sara Pipalini;” replies the nun.
St. Peter shakes his head and says; “I’m sorry, but that name just doesn’t ring a bell.”
The nun then takes a newspaper out of her habit and hands it to St. Peter.
He reads the paper and starts laughing. He hands it back to her and says…. “No sister, this says ‘Sahara Pipeline’ was laid by 1,900 men in 6 months.
